In short, when Aaron Draplin initially crafted the very first Field Notes by hand as holiday gifts for friends, they closely resembled these notebooks. As their company launched, their sole offering was a 3-Pack of Kraft Memo Books featuring graph paper. This core product remains central to their lineup.

Their original 48-page notebooks come in three variations: graph, ruled, or plain paper. Each Original Kraft memo book measures 8.89cm wide by 13.9cm tall and is bound using a durable three-staple saddle-stitch process.
